Boiler Blowdown Analysis and Control
Boiler blowdown is used to reduce and control the amount of solids and sludge in the boiler system. If proper operating levels are not maintained, and dissolved solids are allowed to accumulate, the result might be corrosion, scaling of the boiler drum or carry over of contaminants to control valves, heat exchangers and steam drum. Analytical instrumentation will control and optimize blowdown rates.

Clean-In-Place Procedures
Clean-in-place (CIP) procedures are widely used in all types of processing industries after each batch run to prevent bacterial growth and contamination and to maintain the highest product quality. Inaccurate conductivity measurements will lead to excess chemical costs, cleaning cycles, and neutralization costs.

875PH Series pH and ORP Electrochemical Analyzers for Control and Monitoring in Chromate Waste Treatment
Chromates used as corrosion inhibitors in the metal plating industry produce highly toxic waste solutions from plating and rinsing procedures. The toxic hexavalant chromate species can be neutralized into a less toxic, insoluble trivalent form which is capable of being precipitated as a hydroxide at a pH value of approximately 8.5. Alarm relays and sensor choice are very important in the reliability of measurement in the neutralization process.

Sulfuric Acid Measurement
Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) is a clear, colorless, oily liquid that is one of the most important and most widely used industrial chemicals worldwide. For general and high-purity measurements of the corrosive liquid, sensor selection and installation are critical to accurate concentration readings.

Oleum Acid Measurement
Fuming sulfuric acid, oleum, is a corrosive used in sulfonation and nitration processes, and in high-strength adhesives, insecticides, oil refining, and explosives. Essentially all sulfuric acid and oleum produced in the United States is manufactured using the contact method, in which sensor selection and installation are critical application decisions.

Hydrofluoric Acid Measurement
Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is a colorless, nonflammable, corrosive gas used as a catalyst in the petrochemical industry in refinery alkylations, as an etching agent in the electronic industry for silicon dioxide, and elsewhere. Sensor selection and installation are critical aspects of any HF acid measurement, as limiting exposure is greatly desired for safety considerations.
