Improving Accuracy in Natural Gas Flow Measurement
A Minnesota-based energy company faced a situation at their LNG storage facility where they needed to achieve accurate measurement of flow rates at both high and low velocities. With customer demand spiking from 1,000 to 60,000 SCFH during the coldest winter months, the measurement and accounting of flow during the LNG transfer process has an enormous financial stake. Through the implementation of a Veris Accelabar® incorporated with Foxboro d/P Cell® transmitters, they were able to not only achieve improved accountability of gas usage and inventory, but reduced equipment and maintenance costs as well.

Hanover
A supply chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And if that single link holds up a multimillion dollar order, it can mean higher production costs, penalty charges for late delivery, and even loss of order, all of which impact profitability and reputation. International manufacturer of gas processing systems, The Hanover Company, was faced with these scenarios when a new supplier of a key component failed to deliver just days before a major order was to ship. Foxboro’s expedited delivery allowed Hanover to make their promised deadline.

Custody Transfer
Billions of dollars’ worth of crude oil and petroleum products changes ownership daily in custody transfer points worldwide. The traditional custody transfer systems used to track these transactions have measurement uncertainty factors estimated at 0.15 percent, translating to millions of dollars’ worth of value unaccounted for daily. The innovative Foxboro CFT50 digital Coriolis flow transmitter from Invensys uses breakthrough technology to accurately and rapidly measure custody transfer without mismeasurement, stalls, or stoppage.

Enhanced Oil Recovery
Using carbon dioxide (CO2) for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is a proven method to greatly increase yields in mature oil fields. However, accurate measurement of CO2 at subcritical conditions in a non-miscible flood is a proven challenge. One of the largest midstream energy companies in America has found the solution by applying Foxboro advanced Coriolis metering technology.
